Ways you can improve your study skills

First off, it is always great to make a plan. Here are some steps to good planning.

  1. Organize your time.
  2. Keep the plan balanced. Include time for play.
  3. Create a schedule.
  4. Stick to your plan.

Have the right attitude. Be confident in reaching your goal!

Ways to study

Flash cards, quizzing yourself, reading over the notes, TEACHING IT TO OTHERS, and repeating things out loud are all great ways to study.

I will let you in on MY secret though. I found a website that is a big help for me. I signed up for the site when it was time for my semester exams. I found myself doing very well on the tests that I used Quizlet.com to study, and I realized that I am always motivated to use it because it also has games. Making school work, studying, or any kind of job that needs to be done a FUN thing, makes it a lot more easier on yourself. I will include the link of the website at the bottom of this article.

Another good way to study is to improve your test-taking

Having the right attitude and being confident for a test can make a big difference in your performance. Avoid getting nervous or having anxiety. Take a deep breath. Keep a single-minded attitude. Avoid thinking about others around you, and letting your mind wander. The only important thing is the subject of the test. Preparation is the key. Prepare for a test early if you are aware of any kind of struggle you may be having with the subject. Get a good night's sleep. Your brain will not function as accurately as it would if you have all your rest. If you don't sleep you will regret it. Keep in mind concentration skills.

Taking a Test

  1. Know your time limits.
  2. Take a moment to look through the entire test.
  3. Read instructions carefully, underline what the questions are REALLY asking you.
  4. Get a sense of how much time each kind of question will take you.
  5. If you don't understand the question, your answer will most likely be wrong.
  6. Skip questions you are not sure about. Some tests are graded on how much work is done. Answer all the questions you know FIRST.
  7. Use remaining time to answer difficult questions.
  8. CHECK YOUR WORK. Even professionals make mistakes.
  9. When you get your test back, look over what you might have gotten wrong and what you did well on.
  10. Check for a pattern in right or wrong answers. Improve on those skills.
